She was much younger than he, and there are stories of them playing leapfrog. One account says during a game of leapfrog, he split his pants, and blushed furiously. His young wife could not stop giggling.

When I first met Shannon and her mother I felt like we hit it off right from the start. It was fun being able to talk techie lingo AND the other person know what the hell I was talking about, but what was even better was being able to be just down right silly. Thank god Josh was already used to Shannon's goofiness cause I just would let it all hang out LOL! I love it when it's this easy. Shannon and Josh you made it easy:). Shannon and Josh got married in the beautiful Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis surrounded by their loving family and friends. They definitely upped their cool factor with me when Shannon walked down the aisle to The Beatles "Here Comes the Sun". Yup, I cried. But what has made her even cooler in my eyes is reading about her fight with cancer. Two weeks after Shannon and Josh exchanged vows she was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Yup, I cried. Shannon is kicking Mr.Hodgkin's butt with the support of her wonderful husband and supportive family and friends (one of which shaved their head in support!). Shannon and Josh, I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, and nothing but healthy days ahead of you!

Who wishes they looked this good at 8'oclock in the morning? I know I do. And after a night out, at that!

I met Amanda and Tony one bright and sunny morning in Little Italy - a little sub-section of Baltimore. Not a soul was around. Just us. But that also meant that my voice echoed through the streets. Hopefully I didn't wake any of the locals. :)

I am feeling the need to throw in a bunch of sayings I would hear on The Sopranos. I can't believe I am about to share this. LOL There were some very nice gentlemen taking out the trash (actual trash:)) that let us behind their gate so we could take pictures. I can't remember what they said, but it suddenly hit me that they had an accent like I've heard in movies! I was genuinely excited! Yes, they do let me out of my box upon occasion. I thought it was so neat. And now I am fighting the urge to delete this paragraph.

I had a lot of fun exploring Little Italy with you guys! Now I'm going to crawl back into my box.

Wrapped up like a deuce? That's not right.

Carolyn and Mac live not so far from Patterson Park, so it was only natural to spend our time together there to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather. Unfortunately, the pagoda was closed after the freak earthquake we had. BUT we had fun rockin' out all the nooks and crannies of the park with just enough time to spare for some portraits in front of their home. I have to tell you boys and girls, Carolyn and Mac tried to tell me they were nervous about being in front of the camera. I think they lied. As you can see, they were naturals:). And gorgeous. Clearly, they have done this before. We are going to have so much fun on your wedding day:)

And Mac - you were right. Manfred Mann released "Blinded by the Light" in 1976. I stand corrected. Lol

Drill baby, drill!

That's how I learned my times tables as a child. Every week we memorized, and then was timed. Yeah. It worked ok for me, but just - ok. But when Kerry Dobry showed me a trick for the nines times table (which I've always struggled with - yes, I just admitted that at the age of 35) my jaw dropped. So, when Kerry asked me to provide the photographs for her book Math Wizards: A Fun, Family-Centered Approach to Mastering the Times Tables - I was so honored. Kerry pulled together friends and family to help celebrate and pose for the camera on a beautiful fall day. I can't wait to share all the photos from that day, but until then here's a group shot with everyone that was there to support a wonderful woman.

I have a good feeling about tomorrow.

Doing what I love, too.

Today was just for fun. When a group of photographers that I have come to admire mentioned about doing a photo session swap - I was all in. It's not too often that I find myself in front of the camera WITH my family. And when I threw my name in the hat I envisioned being the last kid picked:). Until, I get a message from Amber Wilkie asking moi to photograph her and her husband!! Let me paint the picture of my reaction....

Just substitute "cute" for "great portraitist":).

Let me tell you - I had sooo much fun with Amber and George! It was nerve racking photographing another photographer, but it is so great to say - "hey, can we go in the parking garage?", and get a "hell yeah, I love parking garages" - pure joy.

Grab a drink and have a seat, because this post is a little long. This wedding was a two day-er at North Bay Adventure Camp in North East, Maryland...a first for me! So I'll try and keep my rambling to a minimum:).

First of all, summer camp weddings - super cool. Second, a couple wanting to give their family and friends from alllll over the world an epic weekend - doubly cool! Color wars, rock wall climbing, kayaking, giant swing, zip line, pool, foosball, not one but TWO live bands! Best of all for me - I was welcomed with open arms like I was one of the family:). I had never been asked if I had something to eat so much! It was like I had 20 mothers, and I loved every minute of it. They were so sweet! Every single person just exuded happiness and love! Truly, a wedding to remember!

Rachel and Jake, thank you so much for letting me document your wedding weekend to share for generations to come. It was definitely one for the history books!

Wanna hide from my camera? Challenge accepted.

One warm summer day I met mom and her little cuties at The Baltimore Museum of Art to see if we could create a little art ourselves. Mom is an art teacher at my kids school, so going to an art museum was a no brainer. I love going to art museum's - it just does something to me. I can't quite explain it. Just being surrounded by so much creativity - UH - inspiring! Funny thing is, my favorite part of a museum to photograph in is the abstract areas, and I personally hate that type of art. Ok, maybe hate is a strong word....not my cup of tea.:)

We started out exploring inside, but ended up heading outside to the sculpture garden to give them a little more freedom. It's a small area, but it has so much to work with! I love fluffy grass! Big sis was a little apprehensive at first. Ok, I lied. She was very apprehensive, but apparently I won her over with a little help from my assistant a.k.a. Kate - one of my girls. And what do you do after a successful session? Get ice cream of course!

Rachel and Jake are getting married tomorrow!! At a summer camp!!! How cool is that!? I know I can't wait, and I'm sure THEY can't wait.:) We had a lot of circling the American Visionary Art Museum feeling the insperation of this place. Rachel and Jake are very fun loving, a little bit silly....all the things that fit me perfectly since I'm a lot, little bit silly LOL.

Baltimore Wedding Photographer | Trash the Dress: Bridesmaid Edition:)

Wayyy back, last spring Allison came to me, and said if I have ever heard of "Wreak the Dress"? "Sure! You wanna have pictures done in your wedding dress?" "No. Bridesmaid dresses." :)

So that's a condensed version, but I was so tickled that Allison and her friend Rebecca came up with this idea. What better way to use that bridesmaid dress hanging in the back of your closet taking up space! I know you know what I'm talkin' about!LOL They were thinking beach, but I wanted to do one better....waterfalls. Although none of us felt that brave to climb that day, I think the location was wonderful! To me it kind of took on this fairytale feel. I loved it! And the apples were a nice touch, ladies:). It has been a pleasure collaborating with you, Allison and Rebecca. I hope when you are little old ladies in your rocking chairs, you'll be flipping through your books laughing and reminiscing about your day in the woods:)

I have been waiting for this day FOREVERRRRR! Ok, so maybe not technically forever, but it's been a couple months since my uber fun boudoir session with Tanya. She will be getting married in a couple of weeks, and for a super special gift for her groom she wanted to show him how lucky he is;). Tanya ended up ordering a beautiful album that made ME drool LOL! AND to make this even more special I got to work with my sister, Michelle of Chesapeake Hair Salon! She gave Tanya that extra sparkle to make her look incredible. Tanya looked so great that this blog post could have been wayyyy longer, but those are for her hubby-to-be's eyes only:). Although we did discuss laser beams coming from certain parts, but maybe we'll save that for another post. ;)

If you have children then you know exactly how that tune goes:). That song was on heavy rotation when I photographed this beautiful family at the US National Arboretum. I definitely made a fool out of myself, but - hey- it was worth it! Although, I think mom and dad were more amused than the toddler I was trying to preform for:).

That would be the "I'm done" face :)

I told ya it was worth it! A big thanks to dad with surprising mom with such a great birthday gift! It's so nice seeing a guy think out of the box:)

This past Father's Day the kids came up with the perfect gift - pictures with Dad! And I did not prompt that:). So we took an evening, and visited a couple spots. Our first stop was in Bel Air at the Liriodendron Mansion then took some back roads, got a little lost, and stumbled upon Broody Vineyards. We ended our night right in our own neighborhood at the local swimming hole. I love where I live:)
Also I can't forget to thank my wonderful sister, Michelle, for doing all our hair(except for Mike cause he don't got none hehehe). Visit her at Chesapeake Hair Salon!

When mom contacted me to photograph her 3 little boys I knew I needed to think of some really fun things for them to entertain them. We first headed to Liriodendron Mansion in Bel Air for some nice portraits of the boys for as long as they could stand it LOL. BUT they knew what was to follow - ice cream and pool time at home. And let me tell you, they were allll about the ice cream! After they were all sugared-up, it was time to clean them off in the pool....with bubbles! I had so much fun with the boys, and I hope they did too!

On a side note: Props to the awesome tag team of mom and aunt of the boys. Imagine 3 toddlers running in different directions. 'Nuff said:)

Rachel: snivelling and more crying "But I'm not used to breathing out of my mouth. I always use my nossseeee!"

So much for sleeping in. Now my oldest offspring is telling me she's bored after being up for 33 minutes.

Way back in the winter months we planned to get together for this session. But as it tends to do, life got in the way, and it had to be postponed. Sure, I was bummed that we didn't get some fun winter photos, BUT after seeing the rose garden at Clyburn Arboretum - no more! I keep finding myself making the treck up to Northern Baltimore to photograph in the beautiful settings of Clyburn.

These girls came packin'.....clothes:). Dance outfits, cheerleader uniforms, party dresses. They were ready to have fun. And we did:)

Just one week ago Kayla and Jeff were married in.......Alabama. That's right folks, they got me to travel 13+ hours for their wedding. BUT they are just not anybody! Jeff is my brother-in-law, and when I was asked to photograph the wedding - I said well, duh, of course! Not only did I get the pleasure of capturing their day - my hubby was best man and my Emma made the most cutest flower girl EVER! Ok, maybe I'm a little biased. Emma was only out shined by Kayla which is how it should be:).

I tried desperately to capture the infinite reflection in the mirror, but couldn't maneuver myself so I wasn't in the picture. So, instead I give up and cheese for the camera:)

Meet Menley's Face book.

I was completely confused when Menley and her parents kept on talking about her "face book". I thought, ok cool she's on facebook. Maybe we can be friends and she'll be my neighbor on my farm;). Then she pulled out this really neat leather book......with a face on it. Oohhhhh....duh! Not only was the outside cool, but she had incredible drawings inside! Menley loves all things anime:) I also found out during our time together that she's in a choir! She's loves to sing and draw.....me too! Well, I can't draw, but I can a take picture:) (Am I stretching to find things in common with a teenager?)

It made me so happy that Menley took pity on this old gal, and laughed at my attempts to make her laugh:)

But she was quick to let me know that I wasn't that funny LOL
Attempt #1001 to make her laugh: Tell her the branch made a perfect moustache across her face.

Menley, you are such a great girl! I have no doubt you will go onto big and wonderful things. I can't wait to see you go far with your talents....the sky's the limit!

Fa la-la la la la la la laaaa...wait, that was last month!|Pasadena Family Photographer

Now that the Christmas rush has past, and things settle down, I've been visiting my personal pictures that have fallen through the cracks. Well, I am here right now to declare no picture will be left behind! So, now to play catch up:).

This past November I was convinced to join a holiday show chorus. Every year Harbor City Music Company puts together Harmony for the Holiday, and does a few shows in the area. Of course for a girl that loves musicals and Glee this was a no brainer:). Come on, the opportunity to preform at The Mormon Temple....duh! Oh my gosh, it was so much fun! This wonderful group of ladies welcomed up newbies with open arms, and were so helpful. I never thought I would learn all the songs, but somehow, someway I did! Eh, well for the most part:). Carol of the Bells is my arch nemesis LOL. As usual I snapped some photos along the way cause, well, I just can't help myself!

I'm the one allll the way in the back - center:)
One last picture. I had so much fun singing with this talented group of ladies that I just couldn't wait a whole year to do it again. So, that leads me to my quick cell phone shot. I decided to audition for the full time chorus, and this is the song I think about day and night. Wish me luck - my final audition comes next week!

Ok, so ignore the stupid title. It's just me trying to be witty with a play on math. As you can see my math skills need some brushing up on:). Which is where Kerry would come into play perfectly.

On one of our lovely fall days I met the Dobry family at Clyburn Arboretum in Baltimore City. If you haven't gone yet - GO! It's beautiful, and I know I've only scratched the surface of exploring that place.

I know Kerry Dobry from my children's elementary school. She created this wonderful program called Math Wizards . It give children a unique and creative way to remember their times table without the doing it the old fashion way of "drill and kill" method, as she puts it:). I'm sure we all remember writing the times table multiply times so that it was drilled into our little brains LOL. Take a moment to check out Kerry's website - she's going places:). We'll all be able to say "we knew her when". :)

Without further ado.....

I have been searching for an opportunity to combine my love of volunteering with my love of photography. Whelp, my search is over! I stumbled upon Images for a Cure.....eureka! Hopefully by now you know that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I plan on lending a hand:).

Images for a Cure was started in August of 2009 as a small idea by Orlando based wedding and fashion photographer, Kristen Weaver. A small brainchild turned in to an international event of large proportion, joining 239 photographers across 3 countries to raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Thanks to the contribution of these photographers, all donating 100% of their session fees for one day, along with the support of 21 industry sponsors, Images for a Cure raised $12,900 at the conclusion of their 2009 event.

So you ask - how do I help?
On Saturday November 13th, I will be scheduling on location, 30 minute mini-sessions at Downs Park in Pasadena. The session fee is a minimum of $50(you are free to donate more:)) and 100% will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation! Donations are non-refundable.

You'll receive one high resolution digital image with printing release. Hm, holidays are fast approaching! :)

Session times are as follows:
Session 1 – 3:00-3:30
Session 2 – 3:45-4:15
Session 3 – 4:30-5:00

Visit the IFAC website to make your $50 or more:) donation. When you receive your confirmation of your donation – please forward that to me along with your first choice session time to confirm your session! I’ll need to see proof of your donation before your scheduling your session. That’s all there is to it! You have your session and enjoy beautiful images from me, all while giving back to a great organization!

Last week I had the pleasure of hauling my butt to Silver Spring to attend the WPPI Road Trip. With notebook in hand, I was one eager beaver - nervous, but eager:). It was so great to be able to immerse myself, even if only for a day, with fellow photographers that are on the same track as me. It was kind of like the first day of school for me. Where will I sit? Who can I sit next to? As I was standing there scanning the room I had to remind myself that I wasn't in school, and just sit my booty down. Don't worry about it....introduce yourself:). For those of you that don't know me, I have a tendency to be pretty shy. It sucks. So this for me was my way to step into the kiddie pool - just 8 hours. Eight hours to soak in all I could. Greg Gibson and Lindsay Adler shared their knowledge on work flow, and taught me quite a few tricks. Clay Blackmore gave us timeless tips for posing, Jasmine Star talked about how she has used the internet to grow her business.

Ok, I have to admit, and I'll probably get flogged for it. I wanted to go for two reasons....free ticket to WPPI Las Vegas and Jasmine Star:). There I said it. I enjoy Jasmine Star. I think she does lovely work, although there are other photographers that their work blows me away more than Jasmine. BUT I admire her communication skills and how she puts herself out there, and for me that puts her head and shoulders above the rest. Jasmine issued a challenge for us....blog about something personal at least once a week. As you can probably tell I haven't exactly kept up with the blog:). So here is my attempt!

I'll end this post with a little story of my encounter with Jasmine. At the end of her presentation she did a little meet and greet. You got a few moment to chat and get a picture with her. I was in no rush to jump into the beltway traffic, so I thought I'd hop in line to rub elbows with Ms.Star. As I inched closer and closer I started to become nervous and sweaty and nervous and sweaty LOL. I almost got out of line a couple of times, but I was enjoying talking to the other ladies standing in line with me too much. So, I get my turn and what do I say? Well, I thanked her for doing a web seminar a few weeks earlier, and told her how much I enjoyed watching. We chit-chatted about it for a minute. I mentioned how I could tell she was, for the most part, done. We laugh and smile. Then, (sweaty, shy, nervous Angel) turns to the crowd of photographers waiting to meet their idol and yells "Hey guys, Jasmine is human just like us!"......crickets. I swear they looked at me like I had just sprouted another head and was speaking in tongue. Oh.my.god. What did I just do? LOL She took it in stride....thank god. I tried to slink off, but she brought up the whole picture thing. I got my picture.

Crazy eyes and all. I look like I'm a giant! And someone remind me to stop trying to straighten my hair - I suck at it!

Translation: Carrie & Rodney got hitched!

I had the pleasure of capturing Carrie and Rodney recite their vows in front of family and friends last Saturday. They came all the way from Washington just to share their day with us, and with the help of Carries' mother it all came together. They put together a 50's inspired cocktail bash - sounds and all. There wasn't a point when I wasn't singing or boppin' to the music!

When I meet Carrie she was just hanging with her groom watching the tube - cool, calm and collected. Rodney was shooed away - then the fun began.

I'm going to end with one last photo. The shoes. But not just any ordinary shoes. These shoes have a story. Obviously they aren't the "normal" wedding day shoes that you might see. They're not pretty or dainty or princess like. These shoes, Carrie's shoes, are special. When she was 12 years old she HAD to have them. Carrie saved up for them(which is remarkable that a 12 year old would do!), but she was still a little short. So what does any little girl do? She goes to her daddy. Carrie begged and made a deal. The deal? She wanted them so much she said she would wear them on her wedding day. So about 9 years later and many, many miles, they traveled to their final destination. The end of the aisle to Rodney.

I had the privilege to photograph the B Family this past Sunday. And you'd never guess that it was in Baltimore City! After the original plan fell through, I did some fast work to find a location close to their home. I ended up finding a little oasis inside the city called Cylburn Arboretum. Simply incredible! It was meant to be. :)

A gorgeous family at a gorgeous location......you can't ask for more! Thank you so much guys for just being your fabulous self's!

Mama and Me Mini Mother's Day Sessions! | Annapolis Family Photographer

I’m happy to announce my first ever Mama and Me Mini-Sessions! What is a mini-session you ask? Well to put it simply, it’s a small taste of a custom photography session with me! You get to experience a smaller session at a smaller price. All images are treated the exactly the same as if you were to purchase a complete private session, but you’ll have fewer to choose from. A mini-session is for those that might be saving their pennies, but still appreciate fine custom art photography. Also for those who are super busy running the family all over creation (like me:)), and might not have time for a full session. Or maybe you’ve heard of me and just want to see what I’m all about and want to take advantage of these Limited Sessions! Mini-Sessions are 20-30 mins long yielding 7-10 proofs in an online gallery.

Who: Mama and her babes – Mom only and children

When: April 17th beginning at 4pm

How much: $50 (due at booking. Payment is non refundable, but can be put towards another mini session or a full session)

What do I get?: 20-30min session with a variety of images.
Group images and one of mom with each child (if applicable and time allows)
7-10 fully enhanced images in an online ordering gallery

A Month in Review...

Please forgive me for letting life fly by, and not keeping up with this blog. Maybe my life isn't exciting enough to write about. Or maybe I need to realize it's all about the little things. Kinda like stopping to smell the roses :).

Now that thats out of the way....

January flew by, but that seems to be the norm as far as life goes now a days. The two biggest events - the baby of the family turned 6, and I ran into the freezing waters of the Chesapeake Bay. I'll get to the latter in a moment. But first my baby girl<3.

Emma, who came into this world in the middle of the night while mom slept pretty much slept through her birth, turned another year older. Yes, I can sleep through just about anything. Even giving birth. Without drugs. Anything. We had our usual small party with our nearest and dearest. Less stressful. Emma’s big sister’s baked her cake and decorated the house. I was more than happy to pass the buck of said tasks. That sounds horrible. Let me try again. I was more than happy to share in the joy of preparing for the day....hehe. I am happy to report that I did not default the task of photographer - lucky for you:). Here are some shots from Emma's Bday photo shoot...

Now for my dip in the frigid waters of the Chesapeake....

On January 30th I took part in the Polar Bear Plunge for the Special Olympics of Maryland. This was the first time ever for me. I had always saw it on the news the day of, and thought how it would be nice to do it someday. I have a little sister, Melinda, who has Downs Syndrome, and takes part in the local Olympics. If you ever get a chance to check out the games, please do. It will definitely tug at your heart strings to see the joy on their faces accomplishing something that seems so small to you and me. Well the day came and I did it! And it was crazy! The forecast for the day had snow and temps in the teens. The whole family went, and was happy to for most of the day till the elements started to take their toll. The snow started earlier than predicted and was definitely more than one inch. The day didn't go as planned, but it didn't matter, I had tons of fun! There will be more pictures to follow when I get my waterproof camera developed. I was supposed to plunge with my mom and sister, but lost them in the confusion and just pure craziness of getting to the water, which was warmer than the air. I swear I was not cold at all. It was like I had some bubble around me. There was not a flake of snow around me. Sounds magical, or it could have been the rum and coke I sucked down right before:). I want to thank the wonderful friends and family that donated to see my crazy ass jump in the water. I raised $210, way more than I hoped for. I vow to be more organized next year, so be prepared for me to hit you up:). The girls want to do it too - not sure about that one. Guess I have a whole year to think about it! Can't wait!

New Year, new endevours...

Welcome, welcome, welcome! I'm so glad you've given my spankin' new blog a look. This is definitely something new for me, and I'm sure a challenge, cause I am not known for my gift of gab:). But with four girls they give me a boat load of material. I hope through this medium I will be able to learn and grow, share little snippets of my life, and showcase clients. Also, I'll share specials and contests from time to time to keep you coming back;).

I have a picture I took with my cell phone last night at dinner that I wanted to share. My husband and I went out for Chinese on New Years Eve and I had the most perfect fortune.
It made my heart want to reach new heights. Now I know it's just some machine that manufactures it, and it's totally random but it just seemed.....to fit. If you dream big then you can envision success, and your dreams become goals. Something of a New Years resolution for me. Side note: I started with steamed pork dumplings - not a fan of spring rolls. :)

Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating last night. I planned on getting some shots of the blue moon last night to share as some New Year images, but the clouds wouldn't part for me. So, I commissioned one of my girls to pose with the pretty winter sky.
